My Biggest Beauty Secret

I  have always taken care of my skin. My mother has always been a person that likes to prevent, so sure enough, when I was 13 she took me to the department store to get my first skincare set. She has always been a fan of Shiseido, so thats where my long trip to face skincare discovery started. I have used many different well known brands for my face throughout the years. I began with Shiseido but I have also tried many others since. Estée Lauder, Helena Rubinstein, L’Occitane, Skin Medica, Khiels, Apo Cream and La Mer are some of the brands I have used. They all worked in the sense of keeping me hydrated, but none of them really did anything else noticeable to my skin. That is until 3 years ago I started my close relationship with therapeutic essential oils and I have never looked back.

My biggest skin problems were uneven skin tone and large pores. Even the dermatologist told me there is nothing to do about large pores. I started doing research on what essential oils will help improve my skin issues and this is what I have been using since then. My pores have reduced 80% and my uneven skin tone is much improved.

I make my own essential oil skincare in a glass dropper (you can find them on Amazon, Whole Foods, Sprouts). It is very important to choose glass when dealing with essential oils, preferably dark to avoid the oils losing their properties due to light.

I use a “base oil” as the main oil and then I add the therapeutic grade essential oils. A popular oil many people use is fractionated coconut oil, but I needed a little more hydration. Coconut oil seemed to be lacking for me so started looking into something else. After some research I began using rose hip oil. Rose hip oil is full of vitamins, antioxidants and fatty acids. It is known to hydrate skin and correct dark spots and it is also known for reducing fine lines. I use organic Radha Rosehip Oil that I find on Amazon.

I fill the dropper with rose hip oil all the way to where my finger is pointing on the image above.

Then I add 25 drops of Frankincense EO. This oil is anti-inflammatory, astringent, antiseptic and disinfectant. It helps fade wrinkles, dark spots and helps with skin elasticity. Frankincense oil also regenerates healthy cells.

I also add 25 drops of Geranium essential oil. This oil is well known to help as muscle toner. It helps with my skin’s elasticity preventing it from sagging. This oil also promotes cell growth and helps as an anti-inflammatory. It is also said to help treat acne and dermatitis.

I add 20 drops of lavender EO.  Lavender EO is known for its antiseptic and anti fungal properties. It helps with acne and to reduce wrinkles.

15 drops of Tea Tree EO. I use it to keep my face free of blemishes.

The only negative aspect of rose hip as a base oil is that it is orange. For the first 10-15 minutes after applying you will look a bit orange. I also stains clothes but if comes off in the wash with hot water. But in my personal experience the benefits far outnumber the negatives.

Shake the dropper after adding you therapeutic essential oil and if you have the time let it blend well for a few hours before using it. I use the essential oil mixture morning and night. My skin in hydrated, radiant and improving every day.
